All of the flair and dynamic elegance that characterize the Opel Astra has been transposed to the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer – without compromising load space and with a host of additional benefits in practicality, functionality and innovation, that make everyday life easier.

All of the flair and elegance that characterise the Opel Astra have been cleverly transposed to the Astra Sports Tourer. The slim, sharp “eagle-eye” headlight treatment, low and wide mounted indicator lights, combined with the wide, low radiator grille, make an immediate impact. The flowing lines that seamlessly bring the wing profile into the A pillars give eloquent expression of the expertise invested in creating dynamic sporting aerodynamics. The whole is dramatically highlighted by the “wing” style daylight running lights.
The long, sleek, side profile dynamically underlines the title Sports Tourer. The elongated coupe-like roofline melds perfectly into the rear spoiler, while the C pillar seems to flow effortlessly into the gently upswept waistline. This is further emphasised by the neat, superbly proportioned window treatment and the “blade” style side moulding below the waistline. The overall effect is sporting, stylish, elegantly clean and clearly aerodynamic, without compromising practicality or interior space.

From the rear, the broad sporting stance is immediately apparent. The sculptural structure of the tailgate and wide wraparound rear screen below the signature roof spoiler adds to this. The rear light clusters graphically extend the dynamic waistline in to the rear styling. These are further distinguished by the “wing” style rear lighting. The Opel design trademark of a unifying shallow V structure is also present, highlighting the central positioning of the rear Opel logo, and the number plate inset. The rugged impression of the rear bumper, optimised for both aerodynamic and loading efficiency adds the final touch of sporting practicality.

Just how well the designers have evolved the Astra Sports Tourer organically from the coupe styling of the Astra is most easily seen from the side. The extra length of the falling roofline, the rising waistline, the elegant side window extension and understated roof spoiler all work together to give an almost GT like appearance.
One disadvantage of this high-performance impression may be that the customer has doubts over the rear load space. In fact this is little different and has been improved in terms of flexibility and functionality over the previous model. The extra length translates into a longer load area, meaning that for normal load purposes, i.e, for those who only load to the waistline, the space has been increased.

The sweeping lines and wraparound instrument panel harmonize to create a welcoming feeling of airy roominess. The high quality materials of the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer are matched with the excellent standard of workmanship. The main surfaces are textured with soft-touch material and high quality grains.
Chrome accents add a technical, modern edge to the cockpit. The blade theme can also be found here – in details like the air vents, door grab handles and steering wheel.
Great attention has been paid to detail in the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer – like the design and practical placement of control elements like the multi-functional controller or the buttons on the center stack. The result: an exquisitely driver-oriented cockpit with excellent ergonomics.

No matter howyou drive, or how far, seat comfort is a vital necessity. The new Opel AstraSports Tourer delivers it with a fully orthopaedic ergonomic sports seat thatadjusts 6 ways with 4-way lumbar support to suit your posture – perfectly.
Also it has anadjustable seat cushion extension for relaxing leg support. At the top endperforated leather, with heating, brings the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer intothe luxury category. But, if you prefer it, the cloth-covered version providesthe same level of orthopaedic support.
The ergonomic sportsseat is approved and recommended by AGR (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.), a Germanmedical association that has set orthopaedic requirements for car seats.

The new touch operated electric park brake offers both increased parking security and decreased driver effort. Also in combination with Hill Start Assist and Hill Hold, both of which prevent the car rolling backwards when stopped on a hill, it gets you moving smoothly and effortlessly for increased comfort and safety.

Air quality and control is a major aspect of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer’s interior comfort. The Electronic Climate Control (ECC) offers a new quietness and sense of control, including individual driver setting memory. The air is charcoal filtered and both front seat occupants can choose their preferred temperature separately. The ECC also features controlled partial air recirculation for improved heat up and cooling performance.
The diffused ventilation vents are unique to Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Thumbwheel operated, they enable air diffusion and moderation by adjustable vanes for more comfortable air distribution.

The electric sunroof has tilt and slide functions with an anti-trap mechanism. The tinted glass also provides an extra source of light, an integral sliding sunblind covers it to protect against the intrusion of unwanted sunlight radiation.

Whether receiving traffic information, dynamic navigation guidance, accessing preferred radio stations, or your MP3 player, the integrated infotainment system in the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is as beautifully intuitive to use as it is beautiful to look at.
You have the choice from the Stereo CD-Radio with MP3-playback and aux-in to the state-of-the-art navigation system of the latest generation. The uplevel systems also feature an USB connection that provides MP3 player control via the steering wheel and the display.

The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer puts convenient storage within easy reach of the driver and passengers. Door pockets front and rear with bottle holders, a driver’s storage bin, cup holders, a large glove box, and front and rear center armrests with closed storage compartments – depending on equipment there are in total 19 storage facilities for large and small items.

The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer shows how to combine sporting elegance with a high level of functional practicality.

Quick luggage access or complete luggage loading or unloading? The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer offers both. The Easy Access Cover either moves upwards in the D pillars to give convenient access to the luggage compartment. Or with one touch it can it can be completely retracted forwards with a soft braking action as it disappears into its cassette. And, when you want to load higher, the luggage cover is easily removed and can be stowed out of sight in the compartment under the luggage compartment floor.
Need an easily accessible space for useful items? Just check out the roomy storage pockets in the interior trim on both sides. These give immediate access to those smaller items that should be always ready to hand.
If you ever need them, the warning triangle and first aid kit are always conveniently within reach, located in the special interior trim compartment in the tailgate.

Under the load compartment floor of the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer you will find additional space for items that are not or might not usually be needed. The capacity varies, depending on the equipment level of the model.

Customize your new Opel Astra Sports Tourer load space to whatever fits your life or work style. The modular FlexOrganizer® system consists of varying clever transport and storage components, enabling you to arrange the load space exactly how you want it.
The FlexOrganizer® pack includes:

Improved ride comfort, driving dynamics, and steering response, with reduced noise and vibrations are the main benefits gained from the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer chassis. In comparison with the previous Astra Sports Tourer the front tread has been increased by 56 mm and the rear by 70 mm. This gives a wider footprint, which helps maximize the handling and stability improvements gained from the new suspension.
A further ride refinement is that the wheelbase has gained 71 mm in comparison to the previous model. An increase in torsional stiffness provides a solid platform for the suspension and contributes towards significant reduction in noise, vibrations, and harshness.

The unique rear suspension of the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is a compound crank axle with Watt’s linkage. While the principle of Watt’s linkage has been known for over 200 years, more recently it has been used mostly in race cars. In effect the principle is straightforward.
A steel cross member just behind the wheel center line carries the two struts of the linkage. These are pivoted in the middle and the ends are attached to the lower wheel carriers. The result is that any lateral impact on one side is immediately compensated by an equal amount of force on the other side, increasing stability. The major benefit of this compact system effectively prevents any lateral movement of the axle, providing a smoother ride and improved handling.

Imagine a car that continuously adapts its behaviour to road conditions and your driving style. Imagine that at the push of a button you can select a comfortable cruiser or a dynamic sports car. This is exactly what the new FlexRide system is all about.
The FlexRide electronic chassis control system reacts instantly to changing conditions and continuously adapts to your driving style. Continuous Damping Control adjusts the damper settings in real time. 4-channel ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Traction Control, and ESP®Plus all work together to provide fantastic driving dynamics.
With the FlexRide switches, you can change the entire driving dynamics at the touch of a button. Choose between the 3 operating modes "Sport", "Tour" and "Normal" – all of them optimized for different driving scenarios from taut sporting excitement to relaxed long-distance cruising with uncompromized safety and stability.

The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer`s comprehensive powertrain line-up features gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 70 kW (95 hp) to 132 kW (180 hp). All engines meet the Euro 5 emission standards.
Both diesel and petrol variants are available with an advanced, precise and easy-shifting 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, while an automatic 6-speed transmission with ActiveSelect® is available on the 2.0 CDTI ECOTEC®, the 1.6 ECOTEC® and 1.6 Turbo ECOTEC® and the 1.4 Turbo ECOTEC® with 103 kW (140 hp).

For some drivers the environment comes before everything else. If you share this commitment, the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer now offers a real choice. Consumption and emissions on all ecoFLEX models are reduced by optimizing engine control technology and drive ratios, fine tuning the front and underbody aerodynamics, fitting electric power steering and intelligent electric power management – and a shift-up light in the instrument panel. The 1.4 ecoFLEX petrol engined Astra Sports Tourer also has a variable displacement oil pump and electronically controlled thermostat. This helps it to a 74 kW (100 hp) power output, with emissions of just 129 g/km, and a combined consumption of 5.9 l/100km.
The 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX diesel model features an active radiator shutter and low rolling resistance tyres. It delivers a healthy 70 kW (95 hp) with a combined consumption of just 4.1 liters with a remarkably low 109 g/km emission level.
The Start/Stop System further optimizes fuel savings especially in city traffic. The engine stops when the car comes to a standstill with transmission in neutral and starts instantly as soon as the clutch pedal is being activated again. The system can be activated/deactivated via a button on the instrument panel. When the system is active and the engine is stopped, the rev-counter needle goes to the labelled “AUTOSTOP” position to signal readiness for automatic start. The Start/Stop System uses an enhanced generator, starter, and a specific battery and is standard with the 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX as of January 2011.

Just like any star, the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer needs just the right light. The new Astra Sports Tourer is available with Adaptive Forward Lighting – the most advanced headlight system in the compact segment.
The movable elements in the sleek bi-xenon headlights automatically adjust themselves to different conditions, ensuring safer and more relaxed driving. Nine different light functions make the best of every situation, improving road illumination by up to 90% versus fixed headlamps - without dazzling other drivers.
AFL greatly enhances visibility through curves and sharp bends, making night driving significantly safer. And much more relaxing.
Opel Eye is your high-tech co-pilot. Another segment first, Astra Sports Tourer´s front camera system is a specialized wide-angle, high-resolution camera that helps you drive safer and avoid speeding tickets.
Mounted behind the interior rear-view mirror, the front camera recognizes speed restriction signs and then displays them in the instrument panel. The Traffic Sign Assistant reads standard sized round speed limit and “no overtaking” signs and also signals the end of the restrictions. It is active from 14 km/h up to 200 km/h (daytime) and 150 km/h (at night) respectively. Unlike navigation systems with stored speed restrictions, the system works in real time so it is always current.
As of 60 km/h the camera also recognizes if the vehicle unintentionally crosses a traffic line without the driver indicating. It then sounds an audible warning and activates a warning light in the revolution counter. This also helps to counter fatigue and temporary loss of concentration.
The Park Pilot helps detect obstacles in both front and rear. The distance to the obstacles is indicated acoustically via a pulsing sound and a diagram in the display.

The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is not only equipped with state-of-the-art active safety systems, but also protects its occupants with exemplary passive safety technologies.
Robust bumpers and highly efficient energy absorption systems deal with minor impacts. The bumper beams are precisely positioned for maximum protection in car to car low speed impacts, helping cut repair bills and leading to excellent insurance classification.
The rigid passenger cell is mainly fabricated from high strength steel and surrounded by optimized deformation zones that protect in a controlled manner. Inside the seat belt pretensioners on the front seats, front, side and curtain airbags, Pedal Release System and active headrests all work together to safeguard you.
And to keep your new Opel Astra Sports Tourer safe from theft, there is an advanced alarm system available, which meets the most stringent insurance standards.
